Coached by Dean Cromwell of USC – who came up with the flying finish… Charley Paddock (center) and Frank Wykoff (far right) cross the finish line at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Paddock won gold in the 1920 Olympics, in 1924 (in the film “Chariots of Fire” as portrayed by Dennis Christopher) he won silver. Here he’s seen training with his coach, Dean Cromwell. SUMMER IN LA

The Summer Olympics took place in Los Angeles in 1984 when I was a sprout and my dad had a period of paternal custody.
