Lena Horne waits backstage at the Mayan Theater in downtown Los Angeles where Dorothy Dandridge appeared in the musical “Sweet n’ Hot” (1944) Share this:TwitterFacebookPinterestLike this:Like Loading...
I took my mother and Granny to see Lena at the Golden Gate theater back in the 1980’s. Lena came out in a floor length sable sang a song…then took it off and dropped it on the stage and kicked it aside. “It’s mine so I can do that…” she said. We loved the show.
What becomes a legend most?
I love this!! Do you mind if I post this to my Dorothy Dandridge tumblr?
Please post with my compliments!
This picture is simply amazing. I too have a blog dedicated to Dorothy Dandridge and I would to post this. Would that be okay?
Khaela, please go right ahead, I wish I remembered the photographer’s name. I think it must be from one of the Los Angeles newspapers, either the Herald-Examiner, or the Times 🙂 .
