Profiterolles glacees au chocolat aka cream puffs with chocolate sauce are actually pretty easy to make. If anyone wants the recipe let me know and I’ll post it – it would be a “wow” to feed your sweetheart on Valentine’s.

You could have a great night out on $20! So I looked up what $20 was equivalent to then. $20.00 in 1931 had the same buying power as $285.22 in 2013. So dinner at the Trocadero in 1931 was very expensive!

OK, now you’ve done it… In 1931 the average doctor’s salary was 3,000 a year, and a pilot made 8,000!

Wasn’t all this in the day when a romantic rendezvous meant serious dressing up for both parties, and cigarette smoking was so glamourous? What a lovely thought, going back in time to somewhere like The Trocadero, sigh . . . . I shall happily settle for the cream puffs, thank you!

From a generation that grew up in jeans it looks so tailored and elegant – but I wonder how comfortable it was?…I say typing with my computer perched on top of the piano in my bare feet, jeans, and a polar fleece pj top. Hm… I will write down my recipe for cream puffs and chocolate sauce. I can’t extemporize on that because it’s baking and that means precision. It’ll be up on Monday 🙂
