VICKIE LESTER TURNS THIRTY, OVER AND OVER AND OVER…

Today’s my birthday mon petit fleur – and I have a whole hell of a lot to be happy about. My novel is going to be published (more on that later, as I still don’t quite comprehend what happened), my household is currently full of contentment, and I’m married to a gentleman who has agreed to write a post about this:

Editing Dept. Shooting Script, "Doctor Zhivago", September 1964
Shooting Script, “Doctor Zhivago”, September 1964

It belonged to his uncle, who started his career in film working for the tyrannical genius, Margaret Booth – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Around here we handle this shooting script with reverence, but the stories Mr. Lester tells of his family are anything but.

Stay tuned for one of my favorite stories of old Hollywood, and thanks for reading, you are all the delight of the Internet.

Oh, and this is the last post today, I am feeling indolent, you know – turning thirty for the umpteenth time requires so much energy…

Cheers dears!

Is that the script that actually got shot?
I guess I’ll have to wait to hear. Oh Lawrence of Arabia on ice but with Lara’s Theme – the Dandy just adores it!!
    Warmest congratulations on the novel.
    Yours ever

It’s the script that was shot, marked by Continuity (in the States we call them Script Supervisors) and then handed over to the editorial dept.

      Thank you Dandy – you’re a doll,
      V

      • February 12, 2013

Lanier! I forgot–Palmolive… I just can’t get the image of that bright green bottle out of my mind. I would dab some behind my ears but I’m afraid it’s radioactive.
        I love you Mister,

    Happiest of begetting days, darling!

I hope it was as sublime as you are beautiful.

Love, chartreuse and vintage pearls from Britannia. .

      Thou art swell, Atreyu!
Funny you should mention pearls, I was looking at a Swiss concocted eye cream today and one of the selling points was that it contained ground pearls – what a waste.
I like yours from Britannia much better.
As a matter of fact I love them,
      V

    • February 13, 2013

      Thank you, darling George –
It was a wonderful day, made even more wonderful by messages like yours.
I was just looking up St. Valentine’s traditions and traced them back to Chaucer, but for some reason 😉 … I think we’ll have to talk about Cary Grant tomorrow instead.
