Doris and Rock were sweet together. Their friendship was very touching.
My Doris Day favourites are, however, Calamity Jane (she’s so Cute and feisty in that), the fantastic drama Love Me Or Leave Me, opposite James Cagney, and her performances of Que Sera Sera (in a film that is slightly too Fifties stodgy) and, in particular, My Secret Love, the latter song *kills* me for a variety of reasons not least the staggering beauty of her voice and those sentimental but wrenching lyrics (excuse George whilst he wipes away a tear!). I guess I’m a bit of a Doris fan 🙂

I love how his sandals are color coordinated with her Capris – it’s a great photo, I’m not sure but it might be by the photographer, Leo Fuchs.

I feel the same exact way about Doris’ singing “Secret Love.” Sentimental but wrenching indeed.
And Day’s acting style was powerfully warm and real. It pains me when I hear her maligned as an icon of repressive 50’s womanhood. I mean this kindly, but the frigid and syrupy rep rightly belongs to June Allyson. Doris was sexier than the farmer’s daughter!

There was something a little scarey about Miss Allyson – especially in an odd remake of The Women, circa 1956 called The Opposite Sex…

He called her Clara; she called him Roy

I know when I’m crazy about someone I rarely call them by their real name 😉

  5. Is it wrong that the first thing I noticed was the neckline on Doris’ shirt? LOVE. And the pedal pushers. Love. Love.

I know! I want to replicate that outfit this summer 🙂
