BEN HECHT ON THE MOVIE BUSINESS

ben hecht miracle-in-the-rain
I discovered early in my movie work that a movie is never any better than the stupidest man connected with it. There are times when this distinction may be given to the writer or director. Most often it belongs to the producer.                  Ben Hecht

How very true that statement is! I know of several films where the writer is also the director – and wouldn’t you know, he has often had the special distinction of being the stupidest man X 2! Not much can save a film like that. 😉 tee hee
