Do you know the story about when Richard Avedon was photographing Elizabeth Taylor on the beach at Big Sur during the filming of “The Sandpiper”? She got him to giver her something that he had that she thought was beautiful…. can you guess what it was?

Sorry to butt in Mr Smith but I have been wracking my “brain” for the answer and keep coming up blank! I am almost sure I knew this yet no joy… So, what *was* it? An item of clothing, a pet?! Do tell!
okay you two I will end the suspense. It was his cable knit sweeter. he was photographing her for the cover of Life Magazine. She loved his sweeter and told him so. Before he knew what he was doing he was giving it to her. Isn’t that charming?

Avedon, such a great photographer/ portraitist, even if here he’s taking a picture of Audrey in a silly hat that doesn’t suit her!
