What could be better on a sunny day than sitting outside with a friendly parrot? In later years descendants of escaped birds would form huge flocks in the Hollywood Hills and Pasadena. That stand of fronds looks to me like a banana plant. I had one in front of my house that started to turn into a grove (you can practically watch it grow) and I had to take it out because it started to slap against the windows in the wind and wake me up at night. Not to mention I was afraid one day it would take over the universe.

Whenever I think of parrots I always ponder those wild ones that live in Pasadena. When I play early morning golf in that city, we’ve been greeted many times by their calls.
I always think they sound kind of like a rowdy party 😉

We have pariots here too! There is even a documentary about them called The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill.

Got to be careful about plants slapping your window Vickie,they could be Triffids and then you could be in a bit of bother or even in a pickle as we say over here.
Speaking of plants have you ever seen the film based on the British writer John Wyndams work-The Day of the Triffids 1962.Arhur C Clarke has called the book-An immortal story.Essentially its science fiction horror.
Eddie Izzard can be seen in the updated 2009 TV mini series version and does a pretty good job.
I will have to review “The Day of the Triffids” – haven’t seen it in a million years. AND, I will watch just about anything with Eddie Izzard in it, updated mini series, here I come!

I particularly liked your tale of the would-be world conqueror banana plant/grove/mutant, I imagine having that tapping against the window would be tres creepy! There was a tree of unknow origin outside my house as a teenager that was similarly looming! Even funnier than the thought of a marauding banana plant is of a parrot growing in size and having similar designs on the world like something from an avian version of Little Shop of Horrors… Polly II?!
The Day of the Triffids incarnation mentioned above would have been better with Eddie Izzard playing the killer plants… 😉

The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill was sweet; loved it. Forget about parrots and banana plants, I want those shoes…although, on closer inspection, they look like they might be giving the woman bunions or pinched toes. Bother.
I know that I am supposed to be looking at the parrot but I dislike big birds and so will focus on how much I appreciate the woman’s outfit right down to her shoes.
