If you never seen the first pairing of Grant and Hepburn in a screwball comedy check out “Sylvia Scarlett”, it’s very odd and very interesting, and you’ll see even with all the fascinating aspects why it was one of the least successful major films of the 1930s 😉 .

The “play a game” scene is one of my best favorites! Oh, it is just too perfect to be true…and yet it is!
It’s wonderful here – and terrible in another version Hawks directed with Rock Hudson (much later) – which speaks to the idea of onscreen chemistry and topical humor (didn’t really cut it in the 1960s).
I Love, LOVE, L-O-V-E Bringing Up Baby, it’s easily one of my favorite comedies, and it’s the ce ne plus ultra of screwball comedy. Thank you, Ms Vickie “Perfect Taste” Lester! I identify with David Huxley (“Mr Peabody!”), I love Cary’s performance. and I adore Kate Hepburn as Susan Vance as I adore her in nothing else. A movie that is Wonderfully Funny, Wonderfully Absurd, Wonderfully Witty, and Wonderfully Romantic. It also may be Hawks’s best film, it’s my favorite of his. (mustn’t forget The Big Sleep, Red River et al, of course. Inspired Perfection.

I was a slight shade of pale blue yesterday; just all the little things mounting up and trying to intimidate me by pretending they were an insurmountable pile . But whether I am blue or not, I love a good laugh 🙂
