I think that we are few who can understand what a one thousand post means and yet as per usual, you handle it with grace, a good word, not often understood.
    Merci pour tout,
    H

Speaking of good words and good wishes, happy (belated) birthday to your beloved. xoxox, V

Happy 1000! Your blog is now a blog of a certain age and looking all the more fabulous! Can you believe it, I have never been to the San Gabriel Mission. I have been to the Mission Inn (My old playground in my late childhood… I know all the hidden places there.) and I have seen the parent Orange tree… but not the Mother of all grapevines. Happy 1000 again my dear… your blog is what gave birth to our friendship. The Mother Blog!

Come see us and we’ll visit Father John at the Mission and then have a dim sum feast. Love, V

Dim Sum…blech! Can’t we have Huevos Rancheros, Mexican Hot Chocolate and Mexican Pan De Labranza and Conchas? And then maybe go to the Ramona Pageant in Hemet?

      • October 15, 2013

I know exactly where we’ll go, the best Mexican Hot Chocolate and they have everything you listed and duck breast burritos – so good!

      • October 15, 2013

Oh boy!!!! Next visit for sure!

      • October 16, 2013

I think I might have to go there very soon and see if it’s still up to standard 😉 .

The Mother Vine is magnificent. And we treasure you for your blog, and yourself, of course 🙂

It’s like a tree trunk. And, you are very kind 🙂 .

The choice of name ‘Ramona” was interesting. Ramona means something like wise protector; at least that is one interpretation I found.

      • October 15, 2013

It’s also an area of San Diego, and the name of a book by Helen Hunt Jackson, credited as being the first novel about Southern California.

OOOOH! My eyes widen. I love these sorts of connections. Have you read that book?

      • October 16, 2013

I should, as it deals with immigration and the history of the region, I suspect in a highly romanticized way, but I still have to get to it.

      • October 16, 2013

There is so much one has to get to. I am also remembering the Ramona series by Beverly Cleary. Well, remembering having read them, but not the actual details of any of the stories!

    Dearest Methusela
1000… now that is a fine age for Hollywood, where no one must appear to be above 28!
    Congratulations!!!
    Yours ever

    Dearest Ms Lester,
I haven’t been well but I could no longer resist scattering a few (doubtless “fascinating”!) comments around and most of all to offer you congratulations on 1000 + posts!
Well done, O Beguiling Queen of Hollywood. Your weblog, your witty, intelligent, inspired writing and your Wonderful Self are all a blessing… LONG MAY YOU REIGN, QUEEN VICKIE! HIP HIP HOORAY!
