As for the 1000th post… It’s just a number, but what it represents is our friendship and dialogue, and for that, treasured readers, thank you.
I think that we are few who can understand what a one thousand post means and yet as per usual, you handle it with grace, a good word, not often understood.

Happy 1000! Your blog is now a blog of a certain age and looking all the more fabulous! Can you believe it, I have never been to the San Gabriel Mission. I have been to the Mission Inn (My old playground in my late childhood… I know all the hidden places there.) and I have seen the parent Orange tree… but not the Mother of all grapevines. Happy 1000 again my dear… your blog is what gave birth to our friendship. The Mother Blog!

Dim Sum…blech! Can’t we have Huevos Rancheros, Mexican Hot Chocolate and Mexican Pan De Labranza and Conchas? And then maybe go to the Ramona Pageant in Hemet?
I know exactly where we’ll go, the best Mexican Hot Chocolate and they have everything you listed and duck breast burritos – so good!

The choice of name ‘Ramona” was interesting. Ramona means something like wise protector; at least that is one interpretation I found.
It’s also an area of San Diego, and the name of a book by Helen Hunt Jackson, credited as being the first novel about Southern California.

I should, as it deals with immigration and the history of the region, I suspect in a highly romanticized way, but I still have to get to it.
There is so much one has to get to. I am also remembering the Ramona series by Beverly Cleary. Well, remembering having read them, but not the actual details of any of the stories!
