I finally broke down and cooked a bit just because to break myself out of my pity party. So I had stuffing for breakfast! Nothing better. Not even cake. Or pie. Sorry David and V.

they always had such good tasting milk in the Thin Man movies – as if it came from a cow in New Jersey and was just brought in a milk pail to the door by horse and cart along with the ice man who cometh with the block and put it into the recess in the side of the apartment to keep the milk cool (friend of ours actually still had the recess for the ice block at his apartment near Columbia – a m a z i n g)

“Breakfast as appeasement” was that when Neville Chamberlain made Adolf Hitler sausages and mashed potatoes (“bangers and mash”)?! Neville was a bit of an idiot, the maniac Hitler promised him various vegetables he never intended to deliver on but ol’ Chamberlain promising “Peas in our time”… Ahahahaha! So TERRIBLE! I apologise profusely…
Oh, as to The Thin Man there were, I believe, six films in the series, The Thin Man followed by the sequels After the Thin Man, Another Thin Man, Shadow of the Thin Man, and Song of the Thin Man. All entertaining, particularly the early ones. Who doesn’t like that rascal Asta?!

The house I grew up in had a tin-lined tiny cupboard built into the wall by the back door for milk delivery – circa 1925-ish.
