In 1994 The Mister set up a camp stove in the driveway and was giving out coffee and flashlights to the neighbors. This one was just a little rumble, but we were out of milk for coffee, so had to resort to ice cream 😉 .
It wasn’t that bad, but it’s always startling to be shaken awake. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a significant shake and that one went on and on, things flew off shelves, houses went sliding down hills, and the noise was very strange, especially at 4:30 in the morning. My brother, who was awake already in S.F. and heard about it on the radio, got right on the phone and made sure I was okay, and then the phone lines went out!
We had one here in DC a few years ago. I thought a truck had driven into our garage!

Very glad to hear that you are A-Okay my dear V.
Our first family’s house in Santa Cruz was on a fault line and it would get to the point where I would wake up in the middle of the night and already be standing in the doorway! 😮
PS. I believe that ice cream eaten after a natural emergency is devoid of calories.
Everyone is okay and it was a mild shake, no damage reported across the city. But, it’s always scary to be woken by the sensation you’re sailing on choppy waters.
Certainly woke me up! Everything okay, the irony being I’ve a touch of vertigo since yesterday 😉
How’s the vertigo now? Hope you’re feeling better. Hugs, V
Better, with the medication. Many thanks, Vickie.
Very glad to hear it.
More to the point, are YOU okay, Vickie? When you were awakened did you think it was the Mister jumping up and down on the bed (again)?!
It’s more like a Troll is standing by the bed and shaking it. Fine and caffeinated and chatting with my favorite peeps!
Darn those trolls! Why can’t they stay in the frozen places where they belong?! Glad you are fine.
I must be, suddenly I’m craving a huge breakfast 😉 .
Not even an earthquake can subdue the Lester appetite! Yay!

Gadzooks! 🙂 Oh, the Humanity!
When the big quake occurred we lived in a single story house, this time we have an upstairs, where I did not want to perch!
You are a wise little bird!
The skyscrapers in town are built on rollers. Isn’t that interesting!
Glad you’re OK. It is such an odd way to wake up!

I get my guidelines all confused now…in the doorway, under the table, my instinct is just to get outside!
Oh no! You + family are OK? Was there much damage?
What a terrible way to start the day. 🙁
I hope the rest of your day was much better. 🙂
