This book is fascinating, and I happen to love the cover – Mr. Berkeley (who staged and choreographed “Gold Diggers of 1933″) on the set before the earthquake hit (one of the drawbacks of life in LA). To find out what happened you’ll have to read it!

Who just sold the rights to his FASCINATING book to:
Warner Bros. has optioned “Buzz: The Life and Art of Busby Berkeley” by Jeffrey Spivak for Gosling to produce with Marc Platt.
Warner Bros. Pictures is giving Busby Berkeley the biopic treatment, with Ryan Gosling circling to play the famous director and choreographer of musicals from Hollywood’s golden age.
The studio has optioned Buzz: The Life and Art of Busby Berkeley by Jeffrey Spivak for an adaptation to be produced by Marc Platt and Gosling. The two previously worked together on the indie crime movie Drive.
The plan is to develop the project as an acting vehicle for Gosling, who also may direct.

Congrats to Jeffrey! I had the great honor of reading and critiquing the early manuscript for the University Press of Kentucky. The book is an excellent volume and for sure the definitive read on the life and career of the great Buzz! I am proud to have been a small part of the process that has culminated with this marvelous outcome!

It’s awesome! I’m fine, doll, how’s things with you? Alfalfa is coming along fine thus far–it’s amazing to talk to other Little Rascals who acted with him! And his niece is telling me many wonderful anecdotes about him. I hope to have the first draft ready soon!

Yes! Read the book, it was captivating. It may take a while to develop the screenplay and get the financing set, but let’s keep our fingers crossed 🙂 .
