Interesting photos. Princess Grace was a striking woman, imagine my distress yesterday when I saw a trailer for a film in which Grace is portrayed by… Nicole Kidman! I don’t recall Grace having a creepy cosmetically altered mannequin face… *Chilling*
(There’s also the question of why – quite apart from silly surgery – a famous redhead would choose to become blandly blonde. Obviously there are lots of lovely, intriguing, and/or sexy blonde-haired women around but I can’t comprehend why redheads dye their hair blonde as they lose their uniqueness and never look as good e.g. Laura Prepon. Well, I DO think I know the answer: they are buckling under the cultural prejudice against redheads and seeking to – ptui! – *fit in* with the bland and bigoted! Truth!)

I watched the trailer for this, I do know Weinstein withdrew it from Cannes based on the family’s objections. It was a dreadful trailer, permeated with the stench of a weak concept and even worse direction. As for Ms. Kidman, it’s always hard to work with bad material, and I’m afraid, although she looks a bit like Grace Kelly, she was too old to portray that particular period in her life. Okay. I am candy coating. This one is just a stinker.

These shots of Grace Kelly made me wonder if they were taken at the time of the new movie coming out is set in, the movie that the Monaco descendents are decrying as false.

I think these shots are from the mid-1950s… When Grace Kelly would have been in her mid-twenties. So, they might have been taken around the time she married the Prince in 1956. The thing that struck me about the trailer (besides the fact that I didn’t like it) was that it implied that love conquered all and eventually she “stood by her man.” I think they had a troubled marriage and eventually led separate lives. He in Monaco, and she in Paris. Maybe the family wouldn’t have liked the film no matter how she was portrayed?

To George: its a crime against humanity when a redhead dyes her hair, more so when it’s to the ‘bland’ color. NK is looking quite boring.

NK is looking about 15 years too old for the role 😉 .

It irritates the hell out of me when modern actresses play classic film greats. It’s just never, never going to fly. Not for me, anyway. And Nicole Kidman? As the delicious Grace Kelly? Seriously??? Ugh. I think January Jones would do Grace Kelly much better, if anyone HAD to try.

Yes! January Jones! (And a much better script.)
