Perfection. They don’t make ’em like they used to now do they?

Oh, I have a feeling I know a gal in Arles who may just be a wee bit similar…actress, writer, etc.

Don’t forget Ms Gordon’s late-life acting turns in Harold and Maude, Rosemary’s Baby (oh, EVIL!), and, of course, the Which Way films of Clint Eastwood featuring Clyde the Orangutan! 😉
PS And isn’t that a hatfest for those ladies?! Claudette pulls that look off best. 🙂

I think hats are making a comeback, now that the ozone layer is shot. Is that an upside to radical climate change?

    Dearest V
Brevity is surely the most underrated virtue of them all when it comes to awards.

They knew not brevity at this year’s awards. Nor have they this decade or last!

I’m sure it doesn’t look good for me if I admit that one of the highlights of my life was the evening I had dinner in an Indian restaurant with my husband, and Ruth Gordon and Studs Terkel were eating at the next table.

What??? OH MY GOD. I think that is the height of fabulous! Do you remember anything they said?

Ruth Gordon is where it is at, now and forever.

I don’t think playing Maude was much of a stretch for her 😉 . Love her, love that movie!

      • March 4, 2014

I agree, and it didn’t need to be! She was wonderful. 🙂

She is as cute as a button! And look at her, in her pearls and up-do and a million-dollar smile.

I want to be just like her.

    • March 4, 2014

Isn’t she exquisite? And the only thing lifting her face is her very fashionable bun.
      That makes two of us!

She’s just got verve, and that perfect comedic timing!

  7. […] other day Vickie Lester of Beguiling Hollywood posted a piece on Ruth Gordon, and it reminded me of one of my weirder non-family memories.  I’ll sketch it out for […]
