First of all, you have to be looking…
And then you have to be willing to see whoever turns up…
Behold — if the blessed one, blighted one, or anyone deigns to reveals itself, herself, himself to you it’s best to pay attention and start writing things down.
I’ve posted my review on Amazon today, sorry I took so long! Me schedule has been brutal 😀
MY schedule- OMG, I’m losing my most basic abilities!
I thought you’d gone all piratical on me, à la Gilbert and Sullivan 😉 !
LOL- I’m sure at some point I must have been called a gay pirate!
I was just thinking of you this morning as I drank my coffee and caught up on a week’s worth of your posts. It’s become something of a ritual with me, one I look forward to, as it is so damned *delicious*… The pleasure of your company via a funny little digital box. Thank you so much. xox, V
Writing is funny, isn’t it, how it’s so uneven. Sometimes things write themselves, while other times you work and work and work to make it come out right. I also find a lot of writing is thinking.
With your novel, did you find a lot of it “poured” onto the page/computer screen, or were there a lot of times you had to wrestle with it?
It poured out, of course sometimes when I re-read something I’d written the day previous I would edit it straight out and start that section over again, but it never felt like wrestling. I think the nearest I could come to describing the difficult bit would be to say it was kind of like staring at a chess board…
Oh that’s a good way to put it – a chessboard. I might be tempted to steal that for the kids’ writing group I mentor…
Please do! What’s the kid’s writing group working on?
Last year we self-published an anthology + 5 novels. They’re aged 10-14. A remarkable bunch, really.
Okay….if I ever see the Madonna in my sock drawer….you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll start writing. Until then, all bets are off. 😀
The Mister never even could make out “the lady in the moon” until this most recent supermoon, and then he said the lady resembled a tortilla more than a human!
A tortilla! Gotta love it. 🙂
For a second I read that as “…seeing Madonna in your sock drawer.”
My writing process is sort of like the stomach flu. I feel a project coming on, I think about it a while, and then when I finally realize it’s time to get down to it, it falls out of me all at once. The rumination process is very important, though. If I just decide “I want to write something” without going through the fermentation, I’m never happy with the result. This goes for any kind of writing – songwriting, poetry, stories.
