    Ooh, spooky and smokin’! The inimitable, glorious, Carole. Everything looks better in black and white! (I reserve the right to contradict myself!)
    This reminds me of the “crystal balls” gag from Hitchcock’s Family Plot (fabulous Barbara, fantastic Bruce, kooky Karen, toothsome William “Greg Sumner” Devane) as well as Margaret Rutherford’s medium’s ball (if I remember correctly) in Blithe Spirit.     I love the way her eyebrows cast shadows and her brow above catches the light again, in that second photo.

    That top photo! There was a still of CL in that outfit in a film photo book my mother had. I remember thinking she looked like some supernatural creature and I could never decide if she was beautiful or terrifying. Now I’d say definitely both.
