“I have been uncompromising, peppery, intractable, monomaniacal, tactless, volatile and offtimes disagreeable. I suppose I’m larger than life.” Bette Davis
Sister C.,
You would know better than I, but didn’t she make more films than any actress of that era? The number is something astonishing but it’s not at my fingertips…
I doubt I’d know better than you! I think that’s probably true about her, though, since she pretty much “chain-worked” — lighting one project with the tip of the other! And sometimes they overlapped… she really prided herself on her work ethic and her inexhaustibility!! And total lack of vanity when it came to looking completely unglamorous for a role!!
Add Bette to the list of actors who knew that acting is not about which plastic surgery to get, but how to walk into a room and deliver a line that knocks people off their seats.
I love how witty Bette Davis was.
Sharp as a knife.
At least she admitted it!
What is that thing people say now? About being “aware?” She was that and then some!
Wow! Who knew all that would add up to fabulous?!?
