When I was very young I wanted to be a writer and a comic and maybe even a filmmaker. Then I saw the work of Mike Nichols and I said, “How can anyone compete with this?”
It’s an insurmountable loss. Though underage, I saw them, “Mike & Elaine”, at The Mocambo when they were still very new! I was a fan from the start and bored my UCLA friends by performing all of their material which I had memorized. They were beyond brilliant and I’m sorry that we’ve lost him!

Watch this Nichols/May sketch called, “$65 Funeral.” It is so simple and so hysterical. [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0vSLIO7m20?rel=0&w=640&h=480%5D
