Oooh, this sounds right up my alley, like another fine book that I have already read twice…

You will read “Let Me Tell You” over and over again — stories, essays, articles — funny, frightening, oh-so-sardonic. Write me an email with your address in France? And I’ll send you a copy!

I don’t know if she was in the nightclub (maybe she saw the photo in the paper) but whatever happened the story has that very real, very off-center, emotional core she’s famous for. I just about flipped when I read it, El Morocco — The Arabian Nights — hm. Kind of the opposite of:

I am writing this to you
and I hope that you will read it so you’ll know
My heart beats like a hammer
and I stutter and I stammer
every time I see you at the picture show.
I guess I’m just another fan of yours
and I thought I’d write and tell you so…
