An amazing quote, conceived before, as a society, we became rather obsessed with chasing after the bluebird of happiness…

Okay, I’m going off on a tangent here, but I think there was an old copy of this book up in the attic (a book of my mother’s) that I hauled down to my room and read over and over… How could I not love it with chapters like these…The Land of Memory, The Palace of Night, The Kingdom of the Future… It was called, The Blue Bird for Children and you can read it here at Project Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/27991/27991-h/27991-h.htm

  2. It would be amazing if it was Katherine Hepburn or Einstein, but possibly less thrilling if it was Hitler or Stalin

With stars it’s usually the conviction with which they say things, and not the actual content of their words, yes? 😉

Katherine Hepburn is my all time favorite actress and personality. I’ve seen all of her work and read some of what was written about her. She was so far ahead of her time. I love that you chose an older picture of her as she aged gracefully.

Kate Remembered by A. Scott Berg was one of my favorites. I know there was one written in the 1970s that got her steamed: Tracy & Hepburn: An Intimate Memoir by Garson Kanin — also worth reading.

Hey V! Just had to tell you… my hubby just bought me a *very* early b-day present at our local antique shop… an enormous photograph from 1948 of all the MGM stars together! Ms. Hepburn is among them, of course, as is Spencer Tracy (they’re not seated next to each other, which I found odd, but maybe not…) and Judy Garland, Clark Gable, Vera Ellen, Lionel Barrymore (and Ethel), Robert Taylor, June Allyson, Ann Miller, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers (also not seated together, odd….), Gene Kelly, and others! I will be blogging about it soon, so come by and visit!
