Wise word indeed. I wonder too if he felt them more acutely as the quality of the words he spoke professionally seemed to decrease in inverse proportion to the dollars he earned as his life went on.

Burton was guilty of silliness. Making a good living acting is a blessing. Pickling himself in booze was incredibly rather than fairly ridiculous. His choice to squander his talents on making too much swill (as the Dandy implies) while slowly killing himself was a tragedy. It didn’t have to be like that. What a waste. What upsets and angers me even more is that this intelligent talented man bought into ludicrous macho idea (the same way with the drinking, “real men booze” and that meshuga nonsense) that acting was in some way not a fit job for a “man”, he had absorbed too much of his father’s idiotic retrograde conservative opinions, yet if he really felt that way why didn’t he go and work down a mine or as a builder or a taxi driver?! Isn’t marvellous how a dead man can p*** me off! Acting is a privilege and Art and Entertainment are important, a world without either doesn’t bear thinking about, what a dull place that would be. The only thing left would be…sport… *vomits noisily* Bwahahahaha!
