The Lucky Son…conjuring both the brutality and magic of Vegas with blistering verve…a novel by Paul Hughen

Lucky Son, in which sleight of hand meets soul… This is the story of an innocent, with an innate gift of picking the numbers, caught up in a maelstrom of violence and manipulation. Paul Hughen’s debut novel is gritty and cinematic — conjuring both the brutality and magic of Vegas with blistering verve — a sure bet for a superb read.

Howdy. Long time no blog. Sorry about that. Here’s the dealio, some things make me want to shout, and one of them is when a friend writes a brilliant novel. I wrote the blurb above and I heartily recommend the book.

You can hear Paul read at The Writer’s Block bookstore in Las Vegas this Saturday, March 25th, between 5-7pm.

You can purchase the book at Stories Books and Cafe on Sunset in LA.

There’s always the mighty Amazon, darlings…

  1. Good to have you back. Wonderful quotes and photos. I’ve slowed down some myself on posting. Many other things going on, but also trying to transition to video blog posts at NotebookM. I’m an amateur who works too fast and doesn’t do enough retakes, even when I’ve nervously thumped my finger on the desk and it is picked up by the mic. But I’ll get better over time. Only posted two so far. And like you, I’m also trying to write fiction (well, you’re not trying; you’ve done it). Just working now on a few short stories; maybe something bigger later. Best of luck.
