And lo, chiaroscuro!

and lo chiaroscuroHow did I achieve this painterly effect? Sit tight and I will tell you how to go all Caravaggio for Christmas.

First do a load of hoodies and sweat pants in the laundry. Put them in the dryer and when they come out all toasty and warm pile them on top of you on the couch. Find your phone. Set it on portrait, then stage light, strike your best Leonardo-esque (I mean the Renaissance painter, not the actor) pose.

Have fun. Coax your loved ones with cozy wraps and then you can snap their portraits. Failing that, drop by the website Wednesday and I will read you a story — a study in contrasts — exploring the lights and shadows of a Hollywood holiday.

Your truly,

Signora iPhonna

    • I hope your holidays are lovely. Christmas day was grand, and then in the wee hours it was something else, I woke up to the wind banging trees against the roof and rain just pouring. Now all is calm and I hope it stays that way!
