Old gal reads own novel online!

Hi everybody,

Some of my friends and readers have been asking me, “What gives?” Especially in regard to the blog, which is a direct result of the pandemic. I explain all in the video here and I would like to add by recording this book I had a blast. I thought of how I read out loud years ago and I did accents, funny voices, and hammed it up. Because my technical abilities are not great if I flubbed and it wasn’t too egregious I just plowed on. If the flub was rotten I stopped the roll, erased the problem and started again.

Most of all I just wanted to divert, or entertain, or reach out while we all were in lockdown.

At least, theses are hard times, at most they are heartbreaking. If you want to take your mind off it for a little while come and listen. Start here: https://vickielester.com/2020/09/05/episode-1-hollywood-mine/ and click on the arrow in the bar at the end of the post. Or: you can type in Beguiling Hollywood on Apple, Spotify, or Google Podcasts and follow the story there.

As to the print version of the novel it only exists right now as a sheaf of paper marked with the notes I made while standing in front of the microphone and as a document file on the computer. I may independently publish it, I haven’t thought that far ahead. If you’d like, tell me what you think.

Hold tight, things will get better.

I wish you love and health for the holidays.

I’m thrilled that you’ve completed a second novel, and I am now downloading the podcast from Apple. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to listen to any episodes before now, but I had a feeling that once I started, I wouldn’t want to stop!

Hope you and yours are well and safe and still finding moments in joy in this topsy-turvy time.

You too, I hope you are well and safe. The first doses of the vaccine are being flown across the States right now. I know Canada got the process going a few days before we did.

I might have to write another chapter of the book, to catch up with the times β€”β€” I didn’t stray out of the past much, but as I was recording in this topsy-turvy time I couldn’t avoid working in some current events, and the last episode takes place in the summer of the pandemic. Definitely thinking there might have to be an update to follow that, I’ll have a double epilogue!
