      I think it was a Mardi Gras celebration, but since they’re wearing masks I went with it for Halloween.

    Strange sights. The bathing costumes look as though they are made out of woollen fabric…?

      Definitely wool! It was stretchy and the material of choice up until about the late 1930s, early 1940s. Bet it was itchy too!

        I bet! Combination of sand and wool…..arrgh. Having said that, in the 70s, I had a crochet bikini made from red wool; thought it was wonderful, except in the water!

        In the 80s I had a crocheted blue one, but not wool, and fine for sunbathing but not much else!

        Ah, so crochet bikinis must have been “on- trend” once upon a time. I suppose that is why I had one. I was once trendy!
