Peg has been depicted as a naïf, a lightweight and a wannabe, but nothing could be farther from the truth. No less a star than Bette Davis vividly recalled seeing her act in “The Wild Duck” in Boston in 1926. Davis said, “Before that performance, I wanted to be an actress. When it ended, I had to be an actress, exactly like Peg Entwistle.”

That gave me the prickles. “The Wild Duck” is no mean feat, I can tell you. It takes magic to make that part work.
I bet you’ve played Nora, too… 😉
When Bette Davis says things like that, it makes me want to stand up and cheer. That is high praise, indeed.
Dear Peg, if only…
Ms. Davis called it like she saw it, didn’t she? Nothing but respect and admiration.
She had a rather lovely face.So sad really that she should be known now largely for the manner of her death.
I think she looks a little elfin, but that may be because she was so young. Very sad, indeed.
