Cute cover, but he named his son after *himself*? Oooh Nooo, rarely a good sign… Of course then there was Desi Arnaz, Jr and Lucie Arnaz, two Hollywoodian parents without egos there obviously! (of course, that bit of bitchiness doesn’t entirely work because Desi, Sr was actually Desiderio III. Must have made family get-togethers confusing tho’. :))
Frederic Austerlitz… I think Fred Jr. is around 67 now. I remember something about him being a rancher in Paso Robles, a region now notable for its wine production. If I recall correctly when Astaire’s last wife, Robyn, started litigating in 1993 to control her dead husband’s likeness Fred Jr. supported his (younger) step-mother, while his sister did not.
Oh. That’s depressing. Another sad tale. The thought of controlling another’s likeness never occurs to me, it’s like the (not very good but weirdly watchable because of Albert Finney and its oddness) Michael Crichton movie Looker, or commercials using the images of dead stars (yuck).
Strange to think Fred Jr is only six years older than my mother!
A man who dedicated his life to making people happy with his feet…
