Brilliant gal. Just remembering her first quip to Alexander Woollcott when Tallulah to joined his party at the Algonquin Round Table, “Mr. Woollcott, there is less here than meets the eye.” Gotta love her.
That education is a darned good one, really. If we presume (just for fun) her Shakespeare was in one volume (poor overburdened nightstand!), she had two big tomes from which to learn a lot about human nature!
Her friend Anita Loos said she read a bit of the Bible every day, because she wanted to find out what happened next 😉 !
And because I am ignorant about these things I had to google Florence Vandamm; and then I marvelled and wished I had seen this: http://www.nypl.org/blog/2013/08/05/florence-vandamm
Wasn’t she amazing!
I used to read the Bible. Now I read Shakespeare. And I can shoot pool. But I’ve never been photographed languishing over the world’s biggest wine glass.
Ms. Marcheline, we might have to remedy that… And I think you just hit on the next image for your blog 😉 !
