A part of me still thinks she’s the definition of femininity. Just love her.
I think you’re right. “I hope I’ve one thing that Scarlett never had. A sense of humor. I want some joy out of life. And she had one thing I hope I never have. Selfish egotism.” Vivien Leigh
Super quote 🙂
Am amazing woman bedeviled by illness.
I didn’t realise this until your post 🙁
Could this photo have been taken possibly be when she came to do “Elephant Walk”? Do you know the story behind that? She can be seen in all the long shots in the film that were shot in Ceylon. Good morning by the way!
I think this pic was taken when she was sent back from Ceylon where she was shooting “Elephant Walk”… The rumor is she had to be sedated on the plane, but she looks damn chipper and elegant to me. The back story is she was suffering from mental illness on the set (hallucinating) and was sent back to Hollywood to recuperate – she was replaced by 21 year old Elizabeth Taylor in the role. Sad story for such a glam gal. Hugs, V
YES that is the story. You know EVERYTHING!
hugs back at you.
Oh my that is a sad story. And that is one firmy fixed smile so who knows what state she was in at the time. Nonetheless, a true beauty and elegance beyond beyond…
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through for you
Lyrics by CHARLES CHAPLIN, JOHN TURNER, GEOFFREY PARSONS
