Ho, boy! I like the streaming light but that poor guy looks like he’s wondering where the rest of him is… Like Reagan in King’s Row (I think) 😉

That’s such a strange shot. It really does look like he’s wishing he were outside. haha! I’m not a fan of antlers and that sort of trophy – sometimes it can be disturbing.

It’s freakish! I don’t think I’d ever want to go up to bed at night with that poor (partial) creature suspended there.

      • April 13, 2013

lol! Nor, would I! He is partial, isn’t he? There’s a little too much of him suspended on the wall.

My father was a big game hunter and he would certainly approve of this seven-pointer.

Is it an elk? A reindeer? I meant to ask of friend of mine at dinner last night, whose father also hunted big game, and I forgot!

      • April 14, 2013

It looks like an elk to me. I believe Reindeer have thicker antlers.

It feels like an age since The Dandy was last beguiled.
The dreariness of of that old toad work has kept him away from the web for a few days, but now I return to find this treasure trove.
Surely the answer here if simple: he’s a ‘guard moose’!
    Yours ever

While I wouldn’t go out in the woods and shoot something to hang on my wall, I don’t feel bad about antique mounted specimens like this one, which would have been dead long ago in any case. I think he looks rather marvelous in his present location. If I lived there, I’d name him and talk to him every time I went up or down the stairs.
