It depends on how you look at it… or was there something odd in my coffee this morning?

photo(5) 2I have a startling confession to make — I’ve never read Jacqueline Susann’s Valley of the Dolls. Movie yes, book no. I did, however, read Every Night, Josephine! It was something about her poodle, meeting Garbo while walking perfectly groomed, restaurant fed, Josephine in Manhattan, and I remember thinking when I was 14 that it was funnier than hell.

It’s definitely a stream of consciousness day here at Beguiling Hollywood, but I also remember Ms. Susann was a self-promoting dynamo… Hm. Maybe I need to buy a dog and move to Manhattan.

Barring that I have a meeting with the most delightful, most brilliant, Sophia Stuart tomorrow. The following week I meet with my book designer to finalize the layout of the manuscript. And, as you know the cover is already locked and loaded due to the efforts of one very talented guy. The thrilling thing is, after months of waiting on other people, suddenly, very tangible things are beginning to happen…

Now, I didn’t work on this music video, but it’s from the era when I did such things. Thus, it brings back memories of certain craggy locations on the borders of Los Angeles, 22 hour days, and a lot of grit, not only in our eyes, nose and mouth, but also in the character of the people I was working with. Something to remember, particularly at this time.

    Dearest V
It is after all from the grit in the oyster whence comes the pearl.
But no to Manhattan and the poodle. Too cold and too curly in that order.
Say hello to Gloria from me.
I am sure will be all sage and wise for it is her way.

How often do you get to say you’ve come out of business meeting serene? It’s a first for me.
Okay, I’m going for St. Bernard, then… and a pied-à-terre… down the street from you!

Chuffed sounds like what I am after I climb the stairs several times looking for: my book, my glasses, that clippy thing I like to pin my hair up with 😉 .

We sat at the dining room table with our matching computers and I was attentive, appreciative, and awed. The muse was, vastly knowledgeable, organized, focused, precise, calm, and inspiring. Great meeting!

Excellent! Glad there were matching computers. Very chic.

What on earth can’t you two do together? The mind reels…Much tea will be consumed and a literary revolution launched!
    PS to Dandy: chapeau!

Do you know we didn’t even have a sip of tea or coffee? The work was everything! (However, I did have two cups of java afterward.)
